Story Journal

In Bare Book, Junior High School

Students write stories from daily sentence prompts.

Level: Junior High School
Originated by: Treetop Publishing

Each day write a sentence on the board. The students are instructed to write a paragraph in their Bare Book that will include this sentence. This can become a cross-curricula project by basing your starting sentence in regards to topics being studied in class. For example, if you are studying about immigration, you might have your starting sentence as: We could finally see the beautiful lady in the harbor. Each day of that week the sentence would refer to immigration. The topic for the next week might be on Poetry, and the starting sentence could be one line from a poem they should write.

By the end of each week the students should have a short story or poem completed including the starting sentences.
